36 Memphis-based employees of The Hilton Hotels Corp. will be let go on September 30. The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development revealed the news in a report it released today.
Hilton has more than 900 staffers based in Memphis. Layoffs are likely to come from the IT and financial services departments, which are both based in the Memphis corporate office.
Last year, 150 workers were given pink slips at the Memphis offices. That number, though, was reasonably low considering the magnitude of the economic recession.
